Camp Clement NPC :: Cyrus Robinson

My second NPC for Camp Clement; this time, we have a counselor! This guy will be helping to watch over and guide all of the kiddies, though he's probably not the most suited for the job, as he... prefers to do his own thing, mainly. He's sort of a jerk, but I still can't wait to RP with him in the future, regardless! I hope you all like him!

  Personality:
    Cyrus has a strong sense of independence, though he isn't afraid to speak his mind, regardless of what he is thinking. He has a rude and generally negative attitude, and is also significantly arrogant and defiant towards his mother. The image that he wants to make of himself is slightly scrappy or emo, so he will act accordingly, as he believes that it is cool. He has quite a short temper, and will often complain if things aren't going his way. When they don't, it is normally caused by him not paying attention to instructions; he will most likely be on his phone at these times. He will generally not care for others' feelings if he says something unkind, and will not back down to argue if people try to say something rude in return. Cyrus generally thinks of the worst in people, and has a hard time trusting others. Consequently, he will always prefer doing things on his own, but on the other hand, he will never ask for too much out of a person.
    He does have his quiet moments, however; if he ever pipes down, it probably means that there is something bothering him. He sometimes has depressed phases, where he will be withdrawn and completely lost in his own thoughts. He is too dignified to seek for help, however; he is a lone wolf in the sense that will generally push others away to avoid close relationships (especially romantic ones). He is normally crabby and loud to mask these inner, more insecure feelings from others. When he gets to know a person well, however, he will cherish them and hold them dearly to his heart as much as he possibly can, so that said person will be constantly reminded of just how special they are to him. Secretly, Cyrus wishes for someone to love and care for him, though his overbearing fear of losing the ones that he loves scares him out of striving to get to know more people.
    With the campers, he knows that he will have to be firm with them, though he won't strive to be a fun counselor. He will most likely be a serious but lazy counselor, who will give orders continuously. Overall, his leadership skills may not be the best, and he will likely not know what to do when put under pressure.

  History:
    Cyrus Robinson grew up in a regular household with his mother (a Hydreigon named Susan), who made just enough money to pay their rent. Cyrus had never gotten to know his father, as his dad left the family while Cyrus was too young to remember. Cyrus's parents had gotten into continuous arguments regarding Cyrus, their attitudes to having a child, and their future as a couple while Cyrus was only months old; as they weren't married in the first place, Cyrus's father left abruptly when he'd had enough - he hasn't contacted Cyrus's mother since. Still, Cyrus's mother was extremely loving, and always tried her best to give her son all of the love and opportunity that she could offer.
    In his elementary years, Cyrus was a very energetic boy who excelled in math and sciences. He made friends easily enough in school, though at a young age, he was generally labelled as a smarty-pants as he liked to flaunt his intelligence. He was quite prideful, and fit in decently enough with the people he spent time in class with.
    In high school, however, things started changing in his friend group; people's personalities started to develop more, and he found that he wasn't as interested in his past friends, as they were so different in comparison to him. So, he started to hang out with a different crowd, in which he felt much more suited.
    It was in that crowd that he met the girl of his dreams; Jasmine Taylor. Jasmine, whom Cyrus nicknamed Jaz, was a Poochyena girl who had coloured streaks in her hair, wore stylish (yet rebellious) clothes, and was the epitome of beauty to Cyrus. Poor Cyrus held back his admiration for what felt like the longest time, before he finally confessed to Jasmine about his romantic feelings. Surprisingly to him, the feeling was mutual, and they both finalized that they would now be each other's sweethearts. Jasmine was everything Cyrus needed; months passed, and Cyrus found that she was the reason he woke up in the morning, and the only person he felt truly understood him. The two were so in love; they did everything together, and they both trusted each other much more than they'd ever trusted anyone else. There was no pressure in the relationship, either; they were both fine simply doing what the other was most comfortable with. To Cyrus, being with her was like paradise.
    That is, until their fun ended abruptly.
    Right near the end of the school year, Cyrus received the horrifying news that Jasmine had been hit by a car, and had been killed instantly due to the car's fatal blow. This devastated Cyrus beyond belief; he vented out his rage through crying, screaming and denying for months on end. Most of this was directed to his mother, though Susan understood just how much Jasmine meant to him. Still, Cyrus didn't appreciate her sympathy so much, thinking that she was just trying to find a way to get him to stop crying; she didn't know Jasmine like he did. This progressively led to Cyrus becoming very sour towards nearly everything; he still thought of Jasmine constantly, her absence having taken a great toll on him. He started to not try in school, now not seeing the point in it - Jasmine was his main inspiration for wanting to pursue a better life. He was miserable in class, he started getting detentions, and his self-esteem plummeted greatly during this time.
    After Cyrus had just barely made it through his second high school year, his mother desperately tried to think of ways to occupy him so that he wouldn't be sitting at home so much. By this time, Cyrus didn't talk about Jasmine much anymore, though the time he'd spent with her was too unforgettable to simply let go. Susan thought that Cyrus needed a happier environment: somewhere where Cyrus could forget about his troubles for a little bit. That's where she remembered Camp Clement; Cyrus's father had told her all about it in the past, as he used to attend the summer camp, though Susan never believed that his horrific tales were real. So, after a while of trying to convince Cyrus to volunteer as a counselor, he finally agreed to it. With his mindset, his main reasoning for accepting was so that his mother would be happy and so she wouldn't hound him about it anymore, though Susan firmly believed that this might just be the thing to lift his spirits a bit more. (Plus, he'd get all of his needed high school community hours, which was definitely a bonus.)

  Extras:
-He will probably be spending every moment he has to himself on his phone.
-Cyrus has the bad tendencies to flip the bird and swear often, though he knows that he should control himself while counseling at a kids' summer camp.
-He isn't the best at apologizing.
-He is straight, though he has had phases where he's been slightly bi-curious.
-He will say that his favourite colour is black, though it's really violet.
-He treasures a tuque that Jasmine always wore in ninth grade. He also has a framed picture of her that he will most likely bring to camp with him.
-Cyrus has freckles on his cheeks/nose, the back of his neck, his back, his shoulders, the top of his chest, his arms, his legs, and his feet. His freckles are triggered by contact with sunlight.
-Has dreamed of getting a more "emo" haircut, though he has never pushed himself to do it.
-Very insignificant, but for drawing purposes, his nipples happen to be larger than the average man's.
-Sometimes covers one of his eyes with his head-leaf if he's feeling down.
-Can be athletic, but he is never able to motivate himself enough to participate in sports.
-Doesn't really care about what others think of him.
-Likes Sudoku and crosswords.
-Enjoys RPG videogames.
-Has a few online friends, with whom he shares a love for certain RPG games.
-He is a fan of the Legend of Zelda, but is a bigger fan of Steven Universe and Five Nights at Freddy's.
-Currently has no aspiration as to what he would like to pursue for a career.
